Michael Furse Director & Investment Manager
Michael moved to Harrogate to work with Peter Hill-Walker in 1999, and in 2007 bought Maunby from its shareholders, since when funds under management have continued to grow at a healthy rate. Michael is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (MCSI).
After three years as a banker, starting in 1982, Michael worked as a stockbroker in London for a further two years before joining Rathbones in Liverpool in 1988. In 1997 he opened an office for Hambros Fund Management in Leeds.
Married with three children, Michael enjoys reading and music as well as more energetic country pursuits, and has particular interests in music, education and history, which he indulges through his involvement in a number of charitable and other organisations.

Haydn O'Brien Director & Investment Manager
Haydn first joined Maunby in 2008, having moved from Edinburgh to Yorkshire with his young family. During the next four years he helped the team steer a course through the credit crisis and beyond, when in 2012 he looked for a fresh challenge in Brooks Macdonald’s new York office. In 2016 Haydn decided to return to Maunby and help build upon it’s bright future.
Whilst in Scotland Haydn spent 7 years with Adam & Company, initially with the private bank before moving to the investment management arm. Prior to this he was with the National Bank of New Zealand, formerly owned by Lloyds TSB, and also spent much of his earlier years travelling throughout Europe.
Haydn is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments, and enjoys gardening, country walks with his family, and reading.

Chris Keen Non-Executive Director
Chris was appointed as a Non-Executive Director of Maunby in January 2018. He has worked in finance since graduation. Two years in stockbroking during the oil crisis of the early 1970’s were followed by over 20 years at a Kuwaiti owned Bank in London. Here, Chris created Asset Management, Private Banking and Property financing businesses, and served as CEO of the bank from 1985 until 1998. Subsequently, he was a Partner in Culross, a London based thematic investor in Hedge Funds.
Chris is the Chairman of Aston Mansfield, a charity active in London’s East End. He was educated at the London School of Economics and is a Fellow of the Association of Certified and Corporate Accountants.

Martin Tyson Investment Manager
Martin started his investment career at Brewin Dolphin in Manchester before moving to the Leeds branch and spending a further 17 years at the firm and ended up running a team as a Senior Investment Manager and Divisional Director.
He is a Chartered Wealth Manager, Fellow of The Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and has over twenty years’ experience of managing multi asset portfolios for families, charities, companies and trusts.
He is also an affiliate member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and has extensive experience of working with fellow professionals to provide a high-quality service managing wealth and safeguarding assets for future generations.

Alison Pickup Investment Manager
Alison joined Maunby in 2020 after nearly three decades in York, steering her clients’ investment portfolios safely through the TMT Boom, the credit crisis and all the other ups and downs.
She started her career at Greig Middleton & Co in 1993 whilst studying for her degree and continued to work with the same team as the office went through various name changes, including Gerrard and Barclays Wealth.
In 2007 Alison helped to establish a new office for Brewin Dolphin in York, where she worked as a Divisional Director for 8 years, growing funds under management, before joining Walker Crips Investment Management in 2015. Alison holds an Honours Degree in Business Studies and is both a Chartered Fellow of the CISI and a Chartered Wealth Manager.
Married with two children and a dog, Alison enjoys countryside and coastal walks with them, and supporting her children’s sporting interests.

Rupert Fenton Investment Manager
Based in Yorkshire and with over 30 years’ experience in the personal investment management industry, Rupert has acquired a wealth of knowledge and expertise in investment management and stockbroking.
He began his career in 1988, working with his Father in Bradford for Hill Osborne and Co, a medium size regional stockbroking firm based in Leicester. Having gained many successes within the business, Rupert was made a partner in 1997 and in 2003 became Head of the Bradford Office, following a sale of the Partnership to Brewin Dolphin.
Rupert then managed the merging of the Bradford office with Leeds in 2012 and remained as Divisional Director for Brewin Dolphin in the Leeds financial district for a further seven years.
Rupert says: “I am delighted to be joining such a well-established firm with its traditional core values offering a truly personal service, and I am looking forward to be able to offer my stockbroking and investment expertise alongside my commitment to both long-standing and new clients”.
Rupert is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (FCSI) and continues to provide stockbroking and investment management services to clients who had a relationship with him at Brewin Dolphin.

Philip Taylor Investment Analyst
After graduating from Durham with a 2:1 in Accounting and Finance, Philip went on to do an MSc in Finance at Durham Business School, for which he wrote a thesis on stock market dynamics, asset pricing models and forecasting. He spent a short period at Maunby in 2010 gaining some work experience. Qualifying as an ACA with Anderson Barrowcliff in 2014, Philip worked as an Accounts Senior for more than a year before accepting Maunby’s offer to join as a trainee Investment Analyst in April 2016. Philip is keenly interested in health and fitness and enjoys going to the gym, as well as playing the piano, particularly Russian music. In his spare time he also enjoys eating out and foreign travel.

Rachael Bradley Office Manager
Rachael joined Maunby in 2012, having worked as the Head’s Secretary at Ripon Cathedral Choir School for eighteen years.
Prior to this she was PA to the Chairman of Wolseley Centers Limited for nine years, before leaving to have her two children.
Rachael enjoys dining out, holidays abroad, and trips to the theatre and the races, but also likes to spend as much time as possible with her grown-up children.

Marie Thompson Head of Settlements
Marie joined Maunby in August 2013 from Brewin Dolphin, where she was in charge of International Corporate Actions for 5 years. Prior to this she worked at Brown Shipley where she was responsible for Asset Servicing and Capital Gains Tax. Marie is a Member of The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (MCSI).
Marie graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2001 with a Degree in American Studies.
Marie enjoys reading crime novels, dining out and spending as much time as possible with her little boy.

Susan Mitton Company Accountant
Susan joined Maunby in September 2014 as the company accountant. She started her career as a finance graduate trainee with Linklaters, the London based law firm, where she worked and studied for five years gaining experience in all the finance departments.
Following a sabbatical in order to travel around the world, Susan relocated back to Yorkshire in order to work for Provident Financial where she helped to set up the finance functions in the Eastern European branches. Susan has a BSc (Hons) in Economics from the University of Bradford and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Nicola Crowther Part-time Settlements Officer
Nicola joined Maunby in 2021 having moved to Ripon from Leeds. Prior to this she worked as a manager within the Sainsburys/Argos group for 7 years of her 14 year career. This included the set up of new stores and change in management at a number of stores across Yorkshire.
In 2010 she completed a degree in Forensic and medical science at The University of Bradford.
Married with 2 children, Nicola enjoys baking, karate and spending time with her family.
